Tenants "tenure" can be rewarded, as opposed to "punished" for their length of stay.
In the first year of tenancy, the amount of rent charged can not increase. Thereafter, each year an increase percent is calculated and published, typically <10%.
Through household contributions and participation, housemates can enjoy having these yearly increases waived or reduced, in addition to (a) possible reduction(s).
